I need your help once more!

Alright so a while back (like a month ago) I made a Nelf Combat Rogue who is a level 29 right now. I've always loved Rogues in other MMO's but for some reason I can't play them right on WoW and I think that's more because WoW seems like more of a 'gear dependent' game than any other MMO I've played instead of directly adjusting your stats. Well I ( Read more... )

Easy. You're dual wielding daggers and wearing gear that has Int and Str. That's gimping your dps as a Combat. You want 2.60 agility weapon in your MH and 1.40 in your OH. Int and Str does nothing for a rogue. Get glyphs, they will help a bit.

If you go Assassination, 1.80 dagger in the MH and 1.40 in OH.

Personally, I find it easier to level as Subtlety, then switch to Combat or assassination at 30 when you get dual talents and go from there. It has to do with lack of Combat weapons at 1-30.

Even if you can't find the exacte numbers for your weapons, as long as the MH weapon is slower than the OH weapon, it's good.

So I shouldn't be using daggers right now? So I'm assuming I would need Agility and Stamina weapons? I mainly used daggers because I think there was like an action or two where I couldn't use it if I didn't have daggers.

There are actions that you can't use if you don't have daggers as Assassination OR Subtlety. Nothing in Combat. Combat wants you to use swords, ax, mace due to the greater damage they deal. Your talents already in combat deals great damage through Sinister Strike, which works best with slow weapons and there are no daggers slower than 1.80. 2.60 weapons are all axes, maces or swords and they all have more damage than daggers of same item level.

Glyphs to start off, are Sinister Strike (Prime) - adds combo to your. Major is Sprint or Sap, up to you. Minor is one of three - Poisons, blurred speed and safe fall. I'd suggest Safe Fall to reduce damage from knockbacks.

I don't play a rogue, but a quick glance at your gear shows you wearing pants and a belt with intellect. Intellect is of no value to rogues. You want agi gear. Your cloak has strenght on it, which is not optimal either.

I can be of no help with your spec but I did notice that you are missing glyphs. No idea what glyphs you should use, but something to look into. Other than that the only help I can give is to remember to keep your poisons on. My husband is leveling a rogue with my priest and he really notices the difference when his poisons wear off.

But honestly if you are running a low level dungeon with people decked out in all heirloom gear, you are going to have problems keeping up dps wise. Heirloom gear is pretty OP at lower levels. Hopefully the lady rogues here can give you more specific advice.

Alright thanks!! Although I will say something extremely noobish here but I have no clue how glyphs worked. -___-

Glyphs are like recipies that you can learn. They are broken down into three categories ... Prime, Major and Minor. At your level you can use one of each kind. Unless you know someone that is an inscriptionist you will have to buy them off the AH. Once you learn a glyph you can access them by clicking on the glyph tab under your talent tree. All the glyphs for your class will be listed on the right side, the ones you have learned will be lit up. Select a glyph you know from the list and then click on the corresponding spot (prime, major or minor) on the left side of the tab. That makes your glyph active on your character.

Thank you! I'll really have to look more into those on all my characters. Oops lol!

The others have already been very helpful, I just wanted to say it's really okay to be a noob (as long as you want to learn!)
I'm not good at every class and I have no idea what rogues actually need (so I've learned something here too!)
BUT the most important thing, while leveling any class, is knowing which main stat to look for.
So for Rogues, that's Agility. You want to make sure every piece of gear you get has Agility on it.

You have a lot of time to worry about weapon speeds and glyphs and enchants since you still have a lot of levels ahead of you :)

In addition to what everyone else has said, don't ignore your ranged weapon. Check the AH for something that has Agi on it and that will help a lot!

this was what i was thinking.

blood elves have access to a weapon called throat piercers (http://www.wowhead.com/item=29584). i would check out the neutral ah or see if someone has them up on alliance ah. they have +agility.

echoing a previous comment - you may feel noobish, but you're not a n00b given the fact that you not only recognized something was wrong but you ASKED for and accepted help.

Agility is your primary stat - I LOVE the description of not needing brains or brawn (INT or STR), just needing to be faster (AGI). =) Anything and everything you can get with agility will help.

Don't be afraid to find a good place to ask and get the help you need. Not everyone's an ass who's going to troll you, and you'll be all the better off for it. =)

Lol thanks! Yeah most of the time I kind of just try and google the answer but I wasn't really finding anything but idiots being rude about it.
