I need your help once more!

Alright so a while back (like a month ago) I made a Nelf Combat Rogue who is a level 29 right now. I've always loved Rogues in other MMO's but for some reason I can't play them right on WoW and I think that's more because WoW seems like more of a 'gear dependent' game than any other MMO I've played instead of directly adjusting your stats. Well I ( Read more... )

Easy. You're dual wielding daggers and wearing gear that has Int and Str. That's gimping your dps as a Combat. You want 2.60 agility weapon in your MH and 1.40 in your OH. Int and Str does nothing for a rogue. Get glyphs, they will help a bit.

If you go Assassination, 1.80 dagger in the MH and 1.40 in OH.

Personally, I find it easier to level as Subtlety, then switch to Combat or assassination at 30 when you get dual talents and go from there. It has to do with lack of Combat weapons at 1-30.

Even if you can't find the exacte numbers for your weapons, as long as the MH weapon is slower than the OH weapon, it's good.

So I shouldn't be using daggers right now? So I'm assuming I would need Agility and Stamina weapons? I mainly used daggers because I think there was like an action or two where I couldn't use it if I didn't have daggers.

There are actions that you can't use if you don't have daggers as Assassination OR Subtlety. Nothing in Combat. Combat wants you to use swords, ax, mace due to the greater damage they deal. Your talents already in combat deals great damage through Sinister Strike, which works best with slow weapons and there are no daggers slower than 1.80. 2.60 weapons are all axes, maces or swords and they all have more damage than daggers of same item level.

Glyphs to start off, are Sinister Strike (Prime) - adds combo to your. Major is Sprint or Sap, up to you. Minor is one of three - Poisons, blurred speed and safe fall. I'd suggest Safe Fall to reduce damage from knockbacks.

By the way, in 4.3 we will be able to dual wield daggers as Combat rogues. :) As if we didn't need more confusion!

re glyphs:

Totally agree with Sinister strike glyph.

Major-wise, I would recommend Blade Flurry, actually; reduces the energy penalty for using it, and rogues are energy starved at low levels. And anytime you are fighting two mobs at once, BF is our bestest friend.

Minor-glyph-wise, Safe fall is beyond her level right now; I'd go with Blurred Speed.

Alright so I went to try and add my glyphs but I have no idea how you go about doing that. How do you go about learning glyphs? Wow I feel like a noob all over again even though I've been playing for a few months now lol.

First, right-click on the glyph in your inventory to learn the glyph.

Next, open up your glyph window (it's the second tab on the talents screen, so open up your talents and switch to the other tab). Click on the glyph you'd like to slot, and the appropriate circle you can place it in will glow. When it does, right click on that circle and you will place the glyph there.

The pull-down menu on this screen will let you see only available glyphs as one option, which makes it a lot easier to find the glyph you want to slot.

Also, you have to acquire the glyph first - if you aren't an inscriptionist, find someone in your guild who is or go to the AH to buy them.

It's not worth it, in general; combat doesn't use those moves too much. As a combat rogue you gimp your DPS seriously that way - Sinister Strike is much more effective with a slow mainhand weapon with high damage. There's a blue fist weapon that drops from Interrogator Vishas (Bloody Brass Knuckles) that would be an easy, big improvement over your MH dagger ( ... )

Thank you for all the help! I'll try to keep a lookout for the gear you mentioned when I run those dungeons. I knew I was doing something wrong lol. :P

I completely forgot about fist weapons. I rarely see or notice them.
