Your character backstory?

I recently created a Night Elf Hunter and based on how wonderful I'm finding Wyrmrest Accord I've decided to roleplay with her. I've downloaded the addons, given her a personality (still working on that one a bit) and now I'm working on the back story. I know a lot of people prefer to make it up as they play but I think I'm more into knowing her ( Read more... )

Hey there, always nice to see night elf roleplayers. This is taken from the website of the main nelf rp guild on Darkmoon Faire - Shari Adune ( ... )

Thanks, I know 400 is kind of young, but it's not ludicrously young is it? I suppose if you're 10 000 years old 400 barely looks older than 300 but I specifically wanted to make her born after the War of the Shifting sands. I may be able to up her to 500-600?

Oh no it's not ludicrously young, it's quite possible to have a 400 year old elf, just keep in mind that you will only have been mature for 100 years rather than, say, thousands. I roleplay with quite a few 'young' elves so go for it =D

To give you an idea, Night Elves hit "adult" age around 200 years old, IIRC.

Oh and if you're curious; my night elf was born during the War of The Shifting Sands to a warrior and priestess, once again making her quite young for an elf. She's a soldier because that's what her father was, she has never known anything else but fighting, even in times of supposed peace she was training and working towards becoming a better killer. IT's made her ruthless and more than a little cold but then night elves are supposed to be feral and good at war.

Do you happen to know if there was say martial training in Night Elf society between conflicts or are they more the natural born warriors types?

I think it's a mix of both, their natural stature is very warrior-like, very strong and lean. But I believe they have to hone these natural talents if they wish to be strong in combat, because for example a druid may not have to have the same physical strength as a warrior since he would spend most of his time asleep.

RPing can kind of be a bit intimidating when you throw yourself into it; I've personally never rped a Nelf but plenty of Belves and now I've been rping my Draenei. I find what helps is to just really go back into your chosen characters race's background and immerse yourself in it and figure out from it how your character would react to certain things. Lorewise a lot of my Blood Elves do not like Trolls as Trolls really took a lot from the Blood Elves. This helps to stem their backgrounds and how they react to certain things.

If you ever want someone to roleplay with, you can whisper me some time! My character is Inessera and she loves talking to pretty much anyone and could use some friends. :)

My only request is please don't RP her height as 5'9". :D ( ... )

How tall are nelf females supposed to be, on average? I see everything from 5'4'' to 8' and it's very confusing o.O

7' is the average height for night elves, with men a little taller and women a little shorter. I would say a night elf shorter than 6'4" is pushing it, and would probably be treated as a disability within the night elf community, like extreme shortness is in real life humans.

A 5'4" night elf would be like a human woman with dwarfism who is 2'9". Possible, but so unlikely it's silly to throw it around everywhere and have it not treated as a fault.

Night elves are about the third tallest, tied with trolls (females at least, I gather male trolls would be taller if they stood up straight). Draenei are about 2' taller on average, and then tauren are the largest though exact height ranges tend to be tetchy.

Echoing the "please don't make her 5'9" sentiment. Also, don't forget that there's no way she'd have been born in Darnassus (or anywhere on Teldrassil, for that matter) and still be a grown character. (Futzing in the Caverns of Time is no excuse, because the dargons would probably smack you back into your proper time ( ... )

Where does the 5'9" thing come from? Is it common, all I can tell is that it's a little short for a Night Elf?
