Your character backstory?

I recently created a Night Elf Hunter and based on how wonderful I'm finding Wyrmrest Accord I've decided to roleplay with her. I've downloaded the addons, given her a personality (still working on that one a bit) and now I'm working on the back story. I know a lot of people prefer to make it up as they play but I think I'm more into knowing her ( Read more... )

My only request is please don't RP her height as 5'9". :D

Well, along with reading lore, you can also do some research on different animals (not just humans) and how they live. For instance, animals that live longer tend to have far fewer children. Some long lived animals live in large family groups, some solitary or in very small family groups. So you can then extrapolate into maybe your character comes from a small family group, having grown up with maybe just grandparents, a few aunts and uncles, some cousins, out in the wild away from a township. Most of their time, then, would be spent on living off the land, which would fit well with a hunter! Just thinking outside of lore can sometimes be useful.

Meissa, my elf of many wonders (seriously, she started out as a night elf, then blood elf (I even wrote a nice IC short story for that one!), then dwarf, then back to night elf because I just love them so much. She's quite old, at least 4,000 years or more, she's not quite sure though because she often looses track of time. She was a Priestess of Elune, but due to an inner darkness she was kicked out for going to the shadow for a period in her life. She regained balance between the creative and destructive forces within her, using her own mind and nature to channel her powers for good or harm. Since she is so old, and so much has changed, in both her mind, her people and the outside world, she is very much a lonely traveller.

(She's dualspecced disc/shadow. :D I feel the need to actually incorporate things like that.)

How tall are nelf females supposed to be, on average? I see everything from 5'4'' to 8' and it's very confusing o.O

7' is the average height for night elves, with men a little taller and women a little shorter. I would say a night elf shorter than 6'4" is pushing it, and would probably be treated as a disability within the night elf community, like extreme shortness is in real life humans.

A 5'4" night elf would be like a human woman with dwarfism who is 2'9". Possible, but so unlikely it's silly to throw it around everywhere and have it not treated as a fault.

Night elves are about the third tallest, tied with trolls (females at least, I gather male trolls would be taller if they stood up straight). Draenei are about 2' taller on average, and then tauren are the largest though exact height ranges tend to be tetchy.
