Okay, have to share this-one of the L.A. jobs I applied to called me, we had a phone interview. It's a private high school library, not really a great fit for what I want to do (work with the public, basically), but I applied in a recent fit of "gotta find a job in LA so I can move there!". I just found out I didn't get the Cape library job. I'm not feeling a lot of disappointment...in fact, I'm not sure I'm feeling ANY. Gee, that probably means something. :)

I could go on and on, but it mostly boils down to one salient point: if I could keep what I like about the Cape (pretty, small-town decency and friendliness, lack of traffic and stress), but fill it with Boston-type people in addition, I could stay here forever ( Read more... )

Feeling better. Hard to stay "mad" at Cape Cod (or at being here) during a beautiful July week, complete with splashing in the big waves at the National Seashore the other day after work.

Back to original plan-enjoy the summer, try to meet my goal of being out of here (preferably the Cape in general, certainly the family home) by November 1st. :)

South Hadley just posted another job on the MA library job site! Unrelated, and not on my level-but confirms the director is in fact alive and working this week. :P

This topic is of great interest to me, for personal reasons, obviously, but it also appeals to the sociology geek in me, who likes to observe people and places.
