Geez, I know lj had slowed down, but glad to see it wasn't so dramatic. Now it will take me awhile to catch up. :)

I know she's a charitable person, and is doing it for a good reason (to help other parents with this problem), but...their kid is what, 10? That's old enough (or will be soon enough) to be really embarrassed that your mother is writing book about you and your personal problems. January 3rd, 2010? 5-year anniversary of quitting cigarettes, people. And most of you knew the smoking me, which means it's amazing how 5 years can go by like that.

But, 5 years...I was amazed enough when I made it to 1 year, since my previous record was 9 months. 5 years!

As far as cool cities to live in...either because they're lots of fun, exciting, have a good intellectual or liberal tradition (well, that's cool to me!), good cultural scene, charming flavor, rich history, whatever. Still processing it...not so much his death itself, but the mass reaction to it. It is weird to see it so prominent-I haven't heard anyone talk about him in YEARS, except to make fun of him for various news stories. Now, suddenly everyone misses him.
