Im sure they can be helpful but it is better to learn proper posture like you would get from studying tai chi or chi gung. That way you stop the cycle of ruining yourself in day to day life and going for "treatments"
I don't know if this will help Matt. But the first thing I do when I work out is get on something like this. It's mostly for doing crunches, but when I first get on it the weight of my legs and lower body stretch out my back very nicely. I'm sure they have something like this at Club STL.
