That whole "darkness" thing comes from the religious right hijacking the party and "true" conservatism being replaced by religious fanaticism.

That's it exactly!! If it wasn't, i'd have thrown in the towel and moved to another state a long time ago. But i refuse to let the bastards win.

Being from Missouri myself... Kansas City to be exact, I can relate to your frustration this time of year. It always seemed as though the sensible folk were always outnumbered by the knuckleheads!!! LOL

Exactly. With KC and STL being little liberal islands with all that dead space in-between it's a wonder we're not still in the stone age. But i'll keep plugging away as best i can.

It's not just President McVeto... it's also his loyalists who toe the line. All those years the D's had a slim minority they got painted as obstructionists when the R's couldn't ram their agenda through. Now that the D's hold a slim majority, they get painted unilaterally as not doing enough or anything... but no one is calling out the minority R's on being obstructionist. Sure, the D's could have & probably should have stood their ground more on a lot of issues (especially when it came to war funding), & it might not hurt once in awhile if some of the D's engaged in some of the dirty slinging that has become such a trademark of the R's since at least the heyday of Newt Gingrich. Sometimes the high road is overrated, & unfortunately in this country, there are too many people who can't be bothered to look past the image to find substance. The R's have relied on this tactic for years.

Yeah, i hate it when they think they have to pander - though, i admit, some flexibility is required. Ah well, we gotta keep trying...
