*gag* *tries to hold back the chunks* Makes me want to send them a copy of the DSM, thank goodness counselors and psychologist don't see homosexually as an illness anymore. That is the worst to see today as I feel prejudice is the opposite of love....

Yes, though i didn't get to see the broadcast report, the article i referenced DID have someone saying these idiots are just delusional. Of course, Missouri WAS one of the first state to add a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.

i guess i'll stick to that old adage that
"living well (and LOVING well) is the best revenge".

Have you ever seen the movie "One Nation Under God" it's about that Exodus group and how silly it is that they try to cure homosexuality. You should watch it. It's funny!

Funny, but sad at the same time. Sorry to see guys with self-esteem so low and self-loathing so high.

I think it's fucking disgusting, messing with people’s minds even further. Damn fundy church out in West County, Manchester I believe. This makes me so sad that even in 2006 my home sate and city can be so homophobic. In the words of the church lady "How convenient!" that put the sign at 44/Kingshighway, why not put it on fucking South Grand. This is why is so important to take back the US House this year, and get rid of Blunt and Talent. I have to admit living up here now you get disconnected with what our brothers and sisters in the Midwest have to go through. November 7th is month’s away, time to take a day off and drive people to the polls. We have vote by mail here, but if Washington has polls I'll be loading up the Envoy and working for Washington state democrats.

(sigh)

I've been reading and hearing all about this on the news, although I haven't seen any of the billboards. Fortunately for me I have to exit on Hampton just before Kingshighway to get to Doug's house.

I agree, don't give these people the time of day. Let them have their little conference. Let's just keep befriending people and show them how we treat and accept them as fellow human beings.

Well, giving them credit for being "human beings" is a bit much...but you're right. Can't wait until Pride in June.

My sympathies. And congratulations on your recovery from it. How did you get caught up in it?

Wow, just read your story and saw some parallels. i grew up in a little town in Missouri and didn't have any "outlets". As a good little Catholic boy, i was wracked with guilt myself thinking something was terribly "WRONG" with me. Of course, back then i didn't talk to anyone at school about it (hell, any masturbation would send you to hell...this was still the 70s). Another reason i am so anti-organized religion...it just fucks up peoples' lives and is only there to keep them in line. My reaction was, instead of going to a religious meeting for gays (unthinkable back then), i joined the Army. It wound up pushing me a little further into the closet for another 10 years. But that's a story for another day. Thanks for sharing your story and exposing this crap for what it is. WOOF!
