One of the options my car DIDN'T have that I wanted...  Was a GPS.  In truth, it's not something I NEED, because I know my way around Chicagoland...  But now that I'm with reliable transportation, my range has extended considerably and things like "Road Trips" no longer require rental cars.  SO, with my TRIP TO THE EAST COAST coming up in just ( Read more... )

I love my GPS. Just a TomTom One Third Edition, but I love it!

*Nods* I was looking at the TomTom One XLS, but I was drawn in by this traffic feature... However, I may re-visit TomTom in a week and look for one with traffic.

I'd suggest taking a look at the TomTom and -especially- the Dash if you can find one. The Dash does real-time traffic calculated by all the other Dash users along your route.

I will check out the TomTom series again if this one doesn't work out... And I like the concept of the Dash, but it's first-generation technology and that always scares me. (Then again, Navigon has been making standard Windows-based GPS software since the '90's and look where that's gotten me!)

I want to believe there is actually an update that just came out, depending on when this was boxed, it may not have it...

On the plus side of Navigon, they include free map updates every 3 months for the first three years.

I think I'll give it a week before I agree with that statement! hehe...

But I'm seriously hopeful... I WANT to love it!

Ohh. Yeah, I was looking at a navigon for the same reasons. I know my way around.. but don't need one. However, in the awesomeness of DexGirl, she got me a garmin 360 for my birthday, that has been amazing so far. The routes are all pretty good, and I havn't seen any glitches in the software yet.

I only wish the POI's were more and updated.

I've said it before, I'll say it again... She rocks.

My biggest complaint regarding POIs thus far is that there are TOO MANY... Supposedly there's a way to make them not appear on the screen. Here in the city, it's sort of information overload.

Considering that it was still giving me directions while the "Lost Signal" warning was up... I'm thinking it didn't actually lose the signal and was just being glitchy.

I don't know, I'm going to take that same route home today and see what happens.
