Flowers - a thank you bouquet

May 14, 2011 23:27

As I can't send the real flowers from my garden as a token of the huge thanks I owe to the generous and wonderful ditch_gospel for an unexpected and undeserved saiyuki (manga series) gift which arrived this morning, I thought I'd post some photos from today for everybody to see.  Here are three different views of the garden in general:

Hello! Yes, that really is my garden. It's better than the dinner ha ha

I think this is the prettiest time of year for my garden - the green is a bright fresh green and the roses are giving their all. It's OK in the summer but not quite such a lush riot of interest. At the moment, there is colour competition between peonies, roses, irises, poppies, rhododendron, lilies and aquilegia (aka columbine).

I'm very pleased that you like it. Please feel free to dream here whenever you like! You also get a prize for being the only one to realize that there was pretty behind the boring post panel. Will think of a prize sometime and send it (but don't hold your breath, please!).

Your garden is breathtaking. It's just bursting and overflowing with colour and flowers. So beautiful. Sign me up for a garden tour, please!

I like your dinner setup, too, although I'll pass on the chicken. The potatoes look yummy.

Glad it arrived safely. Happy reading! ♥

I'll gladly give you a garden tour and then a cup of fragrant tea on one of the seats! Perhaps you could make sure that the university you choose has an exchange programme with Oxford...

Oh, and you also need to imagine me on one of those seats after my kung fu class this afternoon with Saiyuki Reload 10 in my hands! I did start it last night but was too sleepy to do it justice. It was far more atmospheric to absorb the powerful panels (some great sanzo faces!) in the scented air of the garden - the smell is so sweet that it is SUSPICIOUSLY sweet (surely it must be a smokescreen for something sinister? - like ukoku!). I will be happily staring into those pages for ages yet; thank you so much for the pleasure.

Forgot to say - the potatoes were definitely nicer than the chicken (I don't have any experience of cooking that type of food so the result was very beginner-ish) but the carrot and cabbage (softened in walnut oil with a touch of pepper and five spice powder) was appetizing enough. I'm on much safer ground with vegetables!

Thanks for directing me to this page, KK!! :D

WOW, look at those COLORS!!!! *__________*
Aren't they just.....amazing??? And look how intricate and perfect those flowers are with their own unique beauties! :'D

You have an amazing garden, KK....
I could never keep a garden like that myself, but I've always wished I had a tiny little space where I could grow my favorite flowers... Maybe I will, though, who knows? ^^

Oh, a man who cooks is a real gem! XD

Oh, how did I miss you? You're welcome to take a look at my LJ journal whenever you like (though I know you already have too many demands on your time) - thank you for visiting my garden!

Y, the colours of the garden are an artist's lesson - e.g. that the subtlety of colour can be as powerful as the intensity of colour. Every day I notice something that I never saw before - that's amazing! And there is always an example of perfection, as you say, if only for a day. It reminds me of a Chinese saying, "A life spent in pursuit of the perfect plum blossom is not wasted."

Ha ha - yes, the garden is high maintenance! I occasionally cheat and buy in some help to clear up when I need to prune bushes or weed a large area. When the house was built (second half of the 19thC), the household would have included a gardener as well as two or three other workers (cook, maid, horseman). Now, I have to play all these parts! Happily the "horse" is a Honda so there is limited mucking out :=)

Thanks for taking a look here.

Oh my, sounds like you live in a very regal house! =^^=

I wanted to tell you that my iMac's wallpaper is your BEAUTIFUL yellow rose picture, and I also realized that my laptop, which I also frequently use, still has your bunny wallpaper!! XD
They are both really great, thank you.

By the way, KK, are you friends with Helene (subtlepresence)? She suddenly disappeared from LJ completely (her account deleted), so I've been quite worried. If you know anything, please tell me?
Thanks!
Ohhhh, it's almost 5AM already... I really must sleep. *sigh*

Yes, you must!! (sleep) You are teenager-ly naughty to stay up so late in the night!! Tsk.

I'm pleased that you and your computers are enjoying the rose and rabbit pictures. It's a happy thought to imagine a screen somewhere (US?) many, many miles away showing the same picture. I must post a photo of my apple tree one day as I've never known it to be quite so weighed down with fruit, even on the lowest branches.

Y, I am friends with subtlepresence - she can't escape me (or Kellie): we have her mobile number :=) She is a lovely person and very loyal to her friends so she won't forget us, even if she needs to withdraw for a while to re-group her forces. And she won't stop being a Gackt fan either, I'm sure.

I hope you didn't need to get up early today... 5am. D'you hear how bad that sounds?!

WOW what an amazing garden! The flowers and all the greens are lovely~~

I showed this to my friend and cousin and they both like it, too! They're asking what is that white sort of a house in the far back of the second picture. They're asking if that is part of the main house.

I dreamed of having a garden full of flowers like that plus a little produce farm (or at least a greenhouse) once I get my own house.

Thanks for showing me this.

I love your garden and house! It is all so green and colorful. It appears that you have considerable privacy with all of the lovely trees and bushes. Thank you for those photos.

As for your cooking -- good luck. I am not a good cook and I do not bake desserts. I love to make chicken dishes and to cook in the crockpot. I know what you prepare will be delicious.

Thank you. It is a pleasant place, even though I am nearly always working in it rather than just enjoying it. I also use it for everything from mending bicycles to hanging out laundry to practising kung fu! It is not much overlooked - and, in any case, I don't really care about being seen: if someone's life is so dull that looking at me is interesting, then I'm sorry for them rather than cross.

Happily trial 2 turned out better and did taste good. However, I'm a bit of a nutrition nazi so this sort of deep-fried stuff doesn't get on the menu very often! I don't bake desserts either as I don't have an oven. But I do eat piles of fruit. Must have been a fruit bat in a former existence!
