"Horus Rising". REALLY? I've read it four times! The first time was at 27D school in 2008 when I had zero knowledge about the universe...and I loved it. Which of the series have you liked, if any?

This is the only WH40K novel I've read aside from Sandy Mitchell's Ciaphas Cain novels. I'll try it again before I haul it back to the library, but the first impression was pretty bad.

"Horus Rising" was my introduction to the 'verse, but a better starting point, since you have some knowledge of how the Grim Dark Future is structured, might be the three "Eisenhorn" novels by Dan Abnett. Nathan sent me the omnibus when I was in Kuwait and I could not put the book down. I read it again this summer.
