My husband is out right now buying us a new TV. A flatscreen, LCD 40" wide very pretty one with a new stand to match. His father, at the end of their visit, gave us $500 for a new TV. I guess he got tired of watching our 26" CRT model that we've had since college. Without his seed money, we'd have kept that TV until it died. But since it still

wow that's a big change! Enjoy it. :) We just got back from watching movies at our friends house and they have a 55" tv. it's crazy. Ours is 40-something but seems small in comparison when we get back home.

It's a huge change! And we did, indeed, ooh and aahh a lot last night. We need a new satellite receiver before regular TV looks good, but the definition on DVDs and Blurays is incredible.

The only bummer is that the new stand is much smaller than our old behemoth entertainment center so it only holds some of our components. I had to relocate all the books out of my downstairs bookshelf to hold our DVD collection, and the CD player won't fit inside the stand so it's sitting on top of the bass speaker. We'll have to play with the configuration until it doesn't look messy to me. But it is much sleeker and nicer.

One of our friends has a gigantic TV like that but I just can't see spending $2k on a TV.
