I just hiked up a glacier and summited Mt. Lyell! So much snow... Miles and miles of snow. The tundra hasn't thawed out yet. Late spring here. Two friends and I went up. According to the summit register at the top, we are the 5th party to summit this year.

Jealousy with envy sauce. It's been 95 plus here every day for the last several weeks.

The weather is one of many reasons why you should visit!

Yeah, it was an incredible experience. I think I'm hooked on mountaineering.

We definitely needed ice axes. After climbing the steep part of the glacier, we had to rock climb a few hundred feet. I was freaking out on the down climb a bit. We didn't bring ropes, and my hands were freezing, haha.

It may not be a 14er, but it was reaaaally snowy! Sun-cup hell for miles.

YOU ROCK (on the rocks, ie ice!)! korakthesavage July 22 2011, 20:49:33 UTC
WOW... like, just wow. Late spring, in late July? You know how hot it's been here? 100+ with the humidity factored in! I'd love to go climbing with you, but let's stick to the solid rock mountains, okay? Somniferum and I share a fear of ice (it breaks all too easy!). Best wishes from tropical Georgia!

Haha! Thanks! We should go rock climbing some time! Stone Mountain, perhaps! I think I'm becoming a mountain goat.

I'm loving the weather here, especially after spending last summer in DC.
