[Spend time around Fisherman's Horizon today, and you may run into an unfortunate scene: an armored elf with a huge sword slung over his back, upsetting the locals. He is, after all, rather hostile-looking for such a peaceful and pacifist town, and he isn't even in SeeD uniform. It's more or less the same story at various points during the day: ( Read more... )

[It's hard to tell if this is crazy random happenstance or if Bro is haunting the guy. More likely, it's a little bit of both -- Bro is out for a walk, notices Fenris, decides to happen to be nearby.

He doesn't approach the elf yet though -- he's out here for his own reasons, that being his acoustic guitar.

Everyone's used to him playing hip hop or rhythm n blues or drum n bass or electronica but right now he plies the strings and plays something a little different]

[But that's not how it's supposed to happen. Fenris is supposed to be the one doing the haunting. It's a broody kind of thing to do.

That's not really broody music, though. Actually, it sounds rather sweet. Almost like a lullaby. Fenris tries to ignore it for a little while, but soon enough he's looking over thoughtfully in the direction of--oh. It's Bro.

Assume awkward pose.]

[He switches over to something else, equally simple, but along the same lines]

Sup.

[It took him a little while to figure out what "sup" means, but he's got it now.]

This town is not to my tastes. It sits vulnerable, surrounded by the open sea, and refuses to defend itself.

[A moment's pause. Okay, might as well get it over with.]

...there is the matter of the dance.

[Neville approaches after overhearing an exchange. He's a little interested in swords now, having had the opportunity to wield the Sword of Gryffindor himself.
Of course, he doubts it counts a really wielding if all you do is just wave it around with the pointy end away from you.]

They really don't like swords around here, do they?

[Having given up on getting into the town for the time being--and growing thoroughly disgusted with himself for trying--Fenris is on his way back to Garden for the moment when Neville approaches.]

Swords, maces, daggers, or what you call "guns." They shun them all. For all the good it may do them.

[He mentally adds 'wands' onto that list, frowning. You can't defend yourself without a weapon.]

What's the point in teaching how to use them at this military academy if they don't like us having them?

[A thin smirk answers that.]

This land is not accustomed to making sense. Perhaps I should have expected no more.

[The first time she overheard the conversation, Cissie had to hold back her laughter as hard as possible.. but by the second or third time, it's a lot less funny than it seemed.

As she's walking out of town, with a huge shopping bag, she can't help stopping to glance at him. Hey, he's the guy from the elevator...!]

Guess they're not so fond of your shiny weapon, huh?

[It takes him a moment to look over at Cissie, a frown lingering on his face.]

I don't see why not.

[This time, he actually doesn't sound sarcastic.]

[She sighs, pondering his weapons and then her (really large) shopping bag...]

How desperate are you to get into town?

[A slight shake of his head.]

I wished to see more of this world. Perhaps even to learn why they trust this Garden and its demons.

I will learn little of that from a town wallowing in its own foolish ideals.
