Advent 2024 - Day 8

Today I've baked my last cookies: Iranian cookies, with date and pistachio filling, respectively. And ginger hearts - those will be decorated tomorrow. I've decided to finish the Christmas baking. I'm tired and no longer enjoy doing it, so it's time to stop.

No wonder you're tired. I think you've definitely done enough.

The Iranian cookies do sound delicious though...

They are delicious indeed, although the dough is a torture to work with. But it results in a very crumbly biscuit, which elderly people (like Mum) can eat without having to cut them to pieces, so it was worth the pain. And I absolutely love pistachios anyway.

I regret that I didn't have the energy for the last three batches, but it makes no sense to continue when one no longer enjoys it.

Good for you! Knowing when to stop is a good thing. I sometimes forget that I'm not in my thirties any more.

I don't remember having been so tired so early before Christmas, ever. I agree that stopping was probably life-saving.

We also had a great many things that frayed my nerves lately, so my readiness to give up wasn't caused by exhaustion alone.
