This and that

Today was a totally ordinary Sunday. We went to church, and Baz overdisclosed to the entire congregation. I sat next to Sue, whose partner Donna needed prayers for health. We came home and daddy made lunch. There was quiet time. I made dinner. We watched a movie (the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). I did dishes and talked to LT. She's going ( Read more... )

I think you've done a very good job of figuring out what's going on in your head, and that will help you as you dive in. Good luck!

i didn't learn to drive until i was 30 years old, and had to rent my first rental car just a couple months after that, so i can very much relate to feeling weird about that. It still feels weird to me.

Traveling like that by yourself is a little weird. It just is, it's not you. But it's fun! Your grownup disguise starts to feel more like a Halloween disguise than usual, which although that means it feels more insecure also means you start having more fun with it for some reason. :)

"But the bit where I am trying to unhinge my jaw enough to get it around rhinoceros haunch is terrifying, even if I know it's coming."
I love this image.

Also I've tried to keep up with dishes in your house, it may in fact be all you do. :)

Sort of reminds me of my friend Kevin on the day of his First Communion. The whole family was dressed up and when they got home from Church he said "Mommy, you look so pretty I want to take a picture of you!" So they went and found the camera, verified it had film and all that fun stuff from a pre-digital era.

Kevin's Mom said "How about out in front of the flowers?", it being spring in Oklahoma and the azelas in bloom.

"No, Mommy! In front of the sink where you always stand." was Kevin's reply.

Give yourself as much time as possible. For instance, if you get off the plane at 10:50 am, don't schedule to be at the office at 12. Say something like, 'I can be there by 4' or 'can someone meet me at the airport' or 'I will see you bright and early in the morning'. Give yourself more time than you would think it takes, so that the rushing of it doesn't add to your stress. Everything new takes time. Next time you go there, you will know all of this already, even how to get to their office or to your hotel. Everything new takes time, and bravery.

You will be at my house!!

I know just what you mean about getting off the airplane alone and renting a car. It is scary-marvellous!

Let us do a bit of peer review and support for each other! You can tell me all about it, show me your outlines, fall apart or show off as you like, and I will get you to look at my work stuff too. I'm good at editorial helping and cheerleading. Rook is also particularly good at paying attention and boosting the professional approach.
