11 weeks in
I'm almost back to normal; last weekend I went to the clubhouse gym and biked on the stationary bike for 30min while reading on my kindle - my first cardio in over 2 months! Then the following day I went swimming for almost half an hour and that too was grand, to just move both legs and actually be moving forward (faster than I have been walking ( Read more... ) -
Walking in sunshine
Okay, I have yet to step outside, but it is sunny (no rain nor snow!) and yesterday I began walking on 2 feet in normal shoes for the first time! Friday was the last visit I had with doctor (marks, um 64th day since surgery, or roughly 10 weeks) and he was pretty happy with what my xrays showed now that I could put weight on my feet - the previous ( Read more... ) -

I've emailed so everyone has seen the aftermath, but I looked forward to this date a LOT, but as it drew closer I couldn't imagine it. I quickly jotted down questions to ask before the appointment (good thing, so Gavin could take down notes since I got overwhelmed quickly just staring at my scaly dry skin and hair). Avg 1 fall/week (almost week 5)
So what happens is I get a little confident, feel I'm moving alright, then I take a small tumble and feel humble (see what I did there? yeah, I'm a dork). 3 weeks, new cast!
Today marked 3 weeks post-op and I had an appointment to see Dr. Tiller and had a list of questions, namely, what the heck is going on with my second toe? When I touch the top, that seems fine, but if I touched below the nail, no feeling (numb actually) and it felt swollen. Two weeks down, 5(?) to go
This was my first week back at work. I actually still have office hour tomorrow and normally students don't show up so I'd planned to skip it, but then there's a quiz next week so they said they would show up. Sigh. Return to work, 12 days post-op
Wish I had the foresight to post yesterday, at 11/12/13, but that was my return to work day, 12 days after surgery. I had rested as much as I could the prior days, but did have a minor setback on Sunday when I was going upstairs. I had gone up once with crutches, but for most part (not that I went up/down that much, at most 1x/day!), I sat on butt ( Read more... ) -
One week since surgery
Woke up with only a slight amount of pain (mostly from not moving at all) so took half a codeine and fell back asleep after people left for work. Nice to be able to sleep relatively pain free, though I miss my own bed. I think memory foam (at home) does a caboose good because all this sitting reclined in bed for most part of the day is taking a ( Read more... ) -
First post-op visit (Day "6")
I don't know if I'm counting it right since it's been 6 days since my surgery on Thurs (today is Wed), but if you count that day as Day 1 (let the healing begin!), then this is day 7. Well, it's easier to count using *post* surgery day since that starts on Nov 1. I'll now stick with that convention ( Read more... ) -
Day 6: Outside! (the living room)
I've been sitting in the living room for the past 3hrs and unlike yesterday, I'm not suffering (beyond the usual). I even slept in today, til 9am! That's like 9hrs since last dosage before sleeping. Probably a result of taking several pills last night when that one codeine wasn't enough, several days of less than 4hr straight hours of sleep (I'd ( Read more... )
