Also, for the pearl balls... they don't look like anything I've seen before, but the combination of ingredients is a pretty standard Chinese combination. Try adding dried shrimp if you can find it (fry it first till it's fragrant!) and it will taste amazing. My grandmother makes glutinous rice dumplings with the same stuff! :)
Thank you! And thank you also for the dried shrimp tip - do you hydrate the shrimps before frying them? I have tiny dried shrimp in my refrigerator, and I'd love to try them out the way you describe.
Awww, well that's when you cultivate friends who love to cook and offer to help out or keep them company while they make dinner! Thankfully skills aren't necessary for the enjoyment of good food. :)
