I have no idea if there is interest in these, and they may be rather offensive to modern sensibilities. I find them fascinating from a historical perspective. So here are two .pdf copies of National Geographic articles on Japan:

Women's Work in Japan (1938)

Unknown Japan (1942)Keep in mind that these were written during a rather tumultous time ( Read more... )

and the happiest, happiest part was just to see Logan and Veronica together! STILL TOGETHER. OMG. ROB THOMAS ARE YOU GOING TO HURT US BADLY LATER? I can't believe that we actually got an episode of them happy in the beginning and STILL HAPPY AT THE END. Whoo!
I couldn't believe it either!!! Woohoo!! But I'm totally with you, I'm sure Rob Thomas is going to hurt us really really badly in a future episode!!! Eeeeck!

I've had ~three hours of sleep, and yet: SEE MY GLEE? 33 hours before I leave for Europe!
That's fabulous!!! Have a save trip and then have the greatest time possible!!!

Rob Thomas is so perverse...I just have to hope that we get happy L/V for a little longer! :)

And thanks for the nice wishes for my trip! I hope to update a little while I'm over there but we will see. :)

I was coming over to ask you just that so am relieved about the Veronica/Logan still together bit, but that makes me worry that Rob Thomas will torture them again :P

I hope you get some sleep or at least are one of those lucky people (unlike me) who can sleep in planes ...

I was so relieved that there was ZERO L/V angst - it was all lovely and perfect and loving. But yes. Be afraid. Very afraid. RT likes to torture us!

It depends...sometimes I can sleep and other times I can't. I hope I sleep, too, because It's going to be a long day between Wed/Thurs. I go to work tomorrow and leave from work, and then I'll be in London all day with Nic before we fly to Italy in the evening. I want to be as rested as I can manage when I arrive in London Thurs morning!

I leave tomorrow evening for London and then I fly to Bologna, Italy with my boyfriend. :) The flights won't be so bad - it's about 7 hours or so to London and then Thursday night it will be about 2.5 hours to Italy. If I was flying straight to Bologna, it usually takes about 15 hours with at least one stop in between.

I can't wait!

That is cool! Yeah 7 hours is okay to fligh... though I always start getting bored after 2 hours already... XD

So when I look up at the sky on Thursday evening I might see you, ne? *living in Germany*
*I'll be the one waving* JK

I usually don't get bored on flights unless it's maybe the very end...I always have plenty to occupy me - books, music, and now with my video iPod, I have doramas and KAT-TUN performances and lots of other JE video clips and gosh, I have like a week's worth of entertainment on my iPod - at least! I could never get bored! :D

I'll wave at Germany Thursday night! :)

I grabbed both articles--they're really fascinating, thanks! Luckily, my first wave feminism instincts aren't as hair trigger as they used to be, haha.

Oh, good! I'm glad someone else finds them interesting and I'm not the only odd duck over here. :) It's fascinating to see what writers/editors thought were important and necessary to impart at that time - and also there are so many excellent images of all sorts of neat things in both articles. Even if you didn't read them, they're worth looking at for the pictures - although I do wish they had copied better.

Wow, I'm so glad that there is interest in the articles! I wasn't sure anyone would really care, so I hope you find them interesting.

I agree, Spooks had a very good start, and yes, *sob* for Colin - OMG I was not expecting that at all.
