I have no idea if there is interest in these, and they may be rather offensive to modern sensibilities. I find them fascinating from a historical perspective. So here are two .pdf copies of National Geographic articles on Japan:
Women's Work in Japan (1938) Unknown Japan (1942) Keep in mind that these were written during a rather tumultous time period - especially the second, which was right in the middle of war-time. And of course written and presented from a decidedly western perspective.
I watched the 3rd season premiere of Veronica Mars and I like! Not ecstatic love or anything like that, but it was good - set up the mysteries, showed us how the characters and their relationships to one another have evolved and shaken out after the end of last season, and the happiest, happiest part was
just to see Logan and Veronica together! STILL TOGETHER. OMG. ROB THOMAS ARE YOU GOING TO HURT US BADLY LATER? I can't believe that we actually got an episode of them happy in the beginning and STILL HAPPY AT THE END. Whoo!
I also watched the first two episodes of the fifth series of Spooks over the weekend and WOW. They really put out two very powerful episodes with some incredible ramifications! Juliet's fate, for starters. And Colin! *sob* Colin's whole scene was an agony for me to watch - it was utterly horrifying, as was Malcolm's reaction later on. I thought Rupert Penry-Jones' performance was excellent throughout (although
_likelife, I am sure you will disagree) and I really loved seeing Hermione Norris, who I've always enjoyed.
And two last things: One, I LOVE the b-side to Rain's new single. And two, I've never watched all of the KAT-TUN 2006.04.29 Real Face con fancam, so I was watching a little this morning on my iPod while commuting and I got SO EXCITED to see Ueda and Jin performing "Butterfly." Gods, I love that song, and even though Jin's costume is entirely ridiculous, I didn't care. Besides, this time, I could actually hear what Jin was playing on his guitar. So, YAY!
Now would you like some fries with your Random? ;P
I've had ~three hours of sleep, and yet: SEE MY GLEE? 33 hours before I leave for Europe!
