I have no idea if there is interest in these, and they may be rather offensive to modern sensibilities. I find them fascinating from a historical perspective. So here are two .pdf copies of National Geographic articles on Japan:

Women's Work in Japan (1938)

Unknown Japan (1942)Keep in mind that these were written during a rather tumultous time ( Read more... )

Me, too! :)

I'm very excited for my trip. We haven't seen each other in four months. And I'm just so happy to be traveling! I really need to get out of this country for a little while. :)

Too much doramas = bad for alexandra's health. I completely forgotten about VM starting . But - EEEEEEEE! At least we have a happy start before everything will go pear-shaped with V/Logan.

I must watch Spooks.

No, you're okay, dear. VM doesn't officially start until next week - this was a sort of sneak preview for online people. If you scroll down in this post you can find out where to dl it if you want to watch.

And yes, yes, you must watch Spooks - it was soo dark, but so good.

I've downloaded, but not seen, the first four episodes of Spooks. I'll start on them as soon as I finish BSG, which I'd like to catch up on before the season premiere.

How did you see the VM premiere, however? That would jump to the top of my viewing queue if I could snag a copy of it.

I believe that the VM premiere was streaming on MSN yesterday. Shhhh, I got it from here. It's flocked, of course, so must join. It'll be on tv next week.

I stil have to grab Spooks 5.4. I wish I had time to watch 3 & 4 tonight but I have too much packing to do. I think they'll have to wait till I get back from Italy & London.

I just watched the VM premiere. It was good, but I really don't like the new characters they introduced, especially Piz. He just screams "Nice guy! Great for Veronica! Not Logan!"

I wasn't impressed with Piz either. I'm just grateful that Mac is still around as she is probably my favorite of the first season non-main-cast characters.

You're very welcome! I hoped that I wasn't the only one who might find historical perspectives and photos interesting. When you read things like that they say a lot about the culture that produces it as well as about the subject of the article.
