Scrubb-Pole is a particularly bad hyphenated name

I think I've decided that in the SCAUverse when Jill eventually marries Eustace, she keeps her own last name. At first I was thinking that it might be too progressive for the times, but then accidentalsquid reminded me that this is Narnia, not Britain. Plus, this is Jill we're talking about, who I've always viewed as having a pretty strong-willed personality.

I'll just draw little hearts around this. And not every culture has the woman taking her husband's name, regardless. And Pole would so not be Mrs. Scrubb. No no no

Oh yes, that was another point that influenced the decision even though I forgot to mention it in the post. Even though I feel the Telmarines would have that sort of culture, the Old Narnians probably don't follow the tradition so strictly (being half made up of different species of Animals who don't bond-for-life would help).

And that doesn't even go into the traditions of the countries surrounding Narnia. Archenland, I feel, would be more traditional in that regard. But on the Western border I've put Leprech, where Jill and Eustace go as ambassadors for a time shortly before they're wed, and maybe that society doesn't hold with the surname thing. Plus all the other countries (canon or not) that I haven't even mentioned.

"Jill Scrubb" sounds just as bad as "Eustace Clarence Scrubb." She should definitely stick to her family name.

Ha! Exactly my own thoughts! What an unfortunate name that would be.
