The One Where He Discovers Coffee

I am beginning to understand why this place is called the city that never sleeps. With so much to see I wonder why you would ever want to.

But how did it come to be known as the Big Apple? There doesn't seem to be any logic behind that.

Thank you for showing me the sights.

It is nothing like any fruit, I think. To call it one seems silly, hm?

It's not the first time, something has been called what it's not. But I can't find the reasoning for this one.

Try Googling it. Or Wikipedia.

That is what I'm trying now. I've learned the origins but not the logic behind the nickname.

Hm, the logic might be impossible to grasp with people today. What'd you find out?

It was used by sports writers in the 1920s and then re popularized by an add campaign in the 1970s.

I've just been picking subway stations at random and exploring what's there. The movies have been very good. Lots of coffee shops.

You're welcome. If you want we can go to the museums and see the Greek things they have.

I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable. That sounds wonderful. You've been a more than amazing tour guide, I am in your debt.

I had fun doing it-it's nice to see the good in our new home.

And you don't owe me anything.

I think I'm going to have a soft spot for the park. And the variety that comes with the food.

Don't I?

Not too much. Some parks and restaurants. Saw a movie, which seems an interesting invention in its own right. Rode the subway.

Don't you have to have a license for such things?

I did! It was a very odd movie.
