 I am beginning to understand why this place is called the city that never sleeps. With so much to see I wonder why you would ever want to.

But how did it come to be known as the Big Apple? There doesn't seem to be any logic behind that.

That is what I'm trying now. I've learned the origins but not the logic behind the nickname.

It was used by sports writers in the 1920s and then re popularized by an add campaign in the 1970s.
