Excuse me. I hate to be a bother--if I can even figure this device out properly…

Is there anyone who can tell me, or at least perhaps give me a better understanding of just… well, there are a lot of things, I suppose, but… [she groans] Pick one thing to start with, Gwen. For starters-how is any of this possible? The fish transporting us-well, ( Read more... )

I have spoken with your Lady Morgana. She is well. And I will tell you precisely what I told her.

All of us have been brought here without rhyme or reason -- so far -- from our respective worlds very much against our will. We are now a part of a caravan, traveling someplace where we supposedly will all be sent home.

As I understand it, you and your lady come from a place were magic is considered taboo. I would cast aside those sentiments right now.

You have! Thank you. I'm relieved to hear that. I last spoke to her when we were still on those boats.

This... doesn't look like a caravan.

...it's quite taboo. It's considered treason. All practitioners are... usually executed. And you mean... magic is acceptable in this place? Really?

My friend, magic is downright unavoidable here.

Perhaps you and your lady should find me. I might be able to better explain things in person.

How do you mean? Is there just... a lot of sorcery present?

I should like that, provided I'm able to find her again. Thank you.

I'm new here, myself, so...

If it helps, it's easier to accept something is possible when it's right in front of you. You can find out more about how and why if you stop questioning its existence.

Were you in one of those little boats, too, then?

I suppose if something is right in front of you, it's rather hard to be dismissive of it. And I can't imagine this is some sort of--some sort of, I don't know... large scale illusion or something.

Yeah, I was.

...wouldn't an illusion of that size be hard to explain? One of us would have to be imagining the rest.

At least we're out of them now.

More or less what I was thinking, yes. It seems too much effort for just an illusion. Which means it's... real.

That's because they weren't really fish. I take it you're not used to machines.

I didn't really think so but--but I wasn't sure at all what they really were. I've never seen anything even remotely like them before.

Machines are constructed from metals and run on a power source. In the case of the machine fish, they were made to look like something from nature.

What sort of power source? Or does it vary...?
