Excuse me. I hate to be a bother--if I can even figure this device out properly…

Is there anyone who can tell me, or at least perhaps give me a better understanding of just… well, there are a lot of things, I suppose, but… [she groans] Pick one thing to start with, Gwen. For starters-how is any of this possible? The fish transporting us-well, ( Read more... )

That's because they weren't really fish. I take it you're not used to machines.

I didn't really think so but--but I wasn't sure at all what they really were. I've never seen anything even remotely like them before.

Machines are constructed from metals and run on a power source. In the case of the machine fish, they were made to look like something from nature.

What sort of power source? Or does it vary...?

It depends on the machine. Far back in the past, they used sources like coal, oil, and wood. Naturally they moved away from things like that.

I've seen coal and wood used as perhaps a kind of power source but--but so something new was making those strange fish work?

I haven't gotten a look at the inner workings of our fish transports, but I'm betting something else is the power source.

As for the breathing underwater, they said it was some plant.

I can't even imagine what could power something like that.

Oh, yes, I remember eating something! I was a little hesitant, but in retrospect, I'm glad I didn't resist, well--too much, at least.

You could ask the caravan's mechanic. He could tell you what machines are running on here.

So far, the Gillyweed doesn't seem to have any side-effects.

All right. I'll be sure to look into that then. Do you know where I might eventually find him?

Well, I certainly hope it stays that way. It's odd enough as it is.

You could request to talk to him.

Odd is one way of putting it.

...oh, of course. That makes perfect sense, I just--there's a lot on my mind, I suppose.

I'm sure I could think of others just as applicable.

And none of them would be wrong.

Probably not, no.

My name is Guinevere, by the way, but you can just call me Gwen.

Call me Tex, Gwen. If you're looking for more answers, I'd suggest asking for whose been here the longest and what they know.

It's a pleasure, Tex! I'll be sure to do that, of course, but thank you for your help in the meantime. It shed some light, at least.
