Formation flying wasn’t exactly Skywarp’s forte. He was too restless to fly in formation for long. Sure, flying with his trine was nice, but nothing beat soaring through the sky any way you wanted.
Of course, Starscream didn’t quite see it that way.
“Skywarp, stop daydreaming and get back in formation!” Startled out of his reverie, Skywarp tipped his wings, gliding back into formation. He didn’t apologise - he wasn’t particularly sorry. They’d spent most of the day flying, and while he enjoyed being out in the air, he didn’t want to be so constricted in the formation flying they were practising. Yet Starscream was insistent that they practise.
So practise they did.
They were soaring straight upwards, wingtips almost touching, when Skywarp registered another presence on his sensors. Laserbeak flew effortlessly between them, even at the speed they were going before diving out of the formation. Before Starscream could even screech at him to stay in formation, Skywarp had vanished, only the residual energy from his warp field lingering.

Skywarp had warped straight in Soundwave’s quarters, knowing that the only reason the communications officer would have sent Laserbeak out to find him was because he wanted to see him. Soundwave was sitting at his desk, watching Starscream and Thundercracker flying around. No doubt Starscream was berating him, but Skywarp had shut down his commline.
“You were watching us?” Skywarp stepped closer, resting his hands on Soundwave’s shoulder.
“Always.” Was the simple answer. Skywarp smiled.
“You just like watching me, don’t you?”
“Of course.” Soundwave turned his chair around, prompting Skywarp to step back.
“And that’s why you sent Laserbeak out, isn’t it?” Skywarp was intelligent enough to tie all the facts together. “It got you all hot and bothered watching me fly.”
“Watching you enjoy yourself.” Soundwave corrected.
“Huh, don’t enjoy flying in formation.” Skywarp huffed. Soundwave stood up, mask retracted as he reached to pull Skywarp in for a kiss.
“Hmmm… now I’m enjoying myself.”
“Satisfaction, guaranteed.” Soundwave murmured, manoeuvring Skywarp towards his berth.
