Wow, ok, so you're saying that you've had the time to measure your pitch and the octave level? What is it about this warbly language that makes us Hebrew-speakers more masculine/aggressive?
I've always thought that my attempts at an Israeli accent give me more of a Russian accent than anything, and I think that is because the first person whom I started speaking to in Hebrew was from Russia. Since I talk to myself in Hebrew more frequently than to others, I'm not sure if it's true. Maybe you and I should test out our Israeli selves on one another and let each other know the results!
Well, you know, there are a LOT of Russian immigrants in Israel, so you'd fit right in with the Russian-accented Hebrew speakers. I've been nagging you to start talking on Google Talk since after the radio show. We can have our Hebraic fun there!
I'm not sure how possible it'll be, the speaking Hebrew in a British accent thing. I wish I could speak with a passable British accent, but the closest I ever come is Australian. Probably because I'm American. Oh well. So my accent in everything is pretty much...American. Damn. >.<
Well there are lots of Brit Jews, so I'm sure those of them who speak Hebrew would speak it with an accent. I wanna know what that'd sound like.
The British accent's really easy to mimic. You just have to twist your tongue a lot for simple words and ignore all 'h' sounds, replacing them with an appropriate vowel. E.g. "Bloody'ell!" {Bloody hell}.
I know that British Jews probably speak Hebrew with a British accent, but I'm not sure how possible it'd be for anyone else. It would probably be cooll, though, no that you mention it.
I know how, in theory, but the combination of my American/New York accent, lots of foreign films, and hanging out with Brits and Aussies all summer has given me a half-way decent Australian accent when I'm trying, and a wierd Australian accent when I'm trying to be British. *sigh*
