It rained today. Mildly. It sucks that I have a cold and couldn't enjoy the rain. But it rained! Hallelujah! The air was so cold and fresh after the rain

Man, we've had NO rain for the past 6 months here, except for two separate days when 2 or 3 drops fell, but nothing substantial. We're in an "Extreme Drought," according to the news, and the paper runs stories like, "Trees dying of thirst" (even though this IS a desert, we get at least a little bit of rain from time to time). :-/ It's so dry, my eyes hurt because they're so dried out!
The Pacific Ocean is roughly 500 miles (800 km) to the west, and we live in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. DRY, DRY, DRY (and dusty as hell)! Though not quite as dry as Dubai. The Sonoran Desert is supposed to be the "wettest" desert in the world, which is why we have so many different cactuses and animals, as opposed to just sand. But that still comes to only about 10 inches (25 cm) a year, and half the time we don't even get that! :-/
Dude, if you think it sucks not having rain, try living in Nebraska. Our weather is so crazy that nothing of its kind was even written about in the BIBLE. I'm not kidding when I say one day it was a nice 50 degrees outside and the two days later there was snow and a negative 18 degree windchill. And this was last week. I've been spending as much time indoors as possible for fear that blood, lice, or frogs are next. I'll keep you updated, but I think the last I heard the forecast was calling for partly cloudy with a chance of large bodies of water being parted in two. Summer looks even worse!
Yuck, are you trying to get me to move to the Mid-West? No Sirree, Bob, I'm happy with me sand dunes and palm trees. But seriously, Nebraska's weather seems like it fluctuates a lot. Here, it's bright and hot in the daytime and at night this cold breeze from the North blows.
When you guys are finally blessed with lice and/or tropical amphibians, please tell me. I need a few samples to use in weekend activities.

Isn't Arizona near the sea? Shouldn't you have a relatively more humid and/or rainy climate than the northern states?
Sorry 'bout your eyes. I think you need to keep squirting moisture into them :þ
