Fire on Babylon

Yesterday I rang up my friend Danielle from Dubai [St Mary's graduate!] 'cause I knew she was in town and I wanted to see her before she went to Durham for university. I know Durham's not far from here, but still. Anyways, we decided to go to the Quayside. I met her, her sister Michelle [who's in Newcastle University], her brother and her mum ( Read more... )

I have often found it amusing how LGBT socs hand out condoms when you sign up - I know they are just pushing the safe sex message, but it feels like you are being handed the condoms and then pointed down the hall to the LGBT meeting where a mass orgy has broken out.

Haha, but in some unfortunate cases, down the hall there's just a flight of stairs, not an orgy :(

What's it like not drinking and being around students who drink? I imagine it must be a little odd.

It is a bit odd and this might just be the paranoid in me talking, but I think my flatmates sometimes don't want to hang out with me or something because I don't drink. But one of my flatmates, Laura, is really nice and got me Ribena (Sp?) which she said I could drink while everyone's having alcohol.
Oh well, this Freshers thing is just a week long and hopefully the drinking will be toned down after that.

Classes have already begun and my lecture theater's like a big socializing event, really. There are so many people in medicine! It'll take me all 5 years to get to know them.

No, not really. I mean, I don't feel the difference as such, because my friends [and even family, as I discovered] were ok with me being gay. It didn't matter to them - or maybe it did, but they just hid it really well. Here too, it's no different. I can be out and not expect and hate crime.

True, Iran doesn't have one homosexual in it.. it has thousands!! And all of them have cute butts.

Thanks darling!
Yes, there are a lot of bridges between Newcastle and Gateshead.. just like there are four bridges between Bur Dubai and Deira.

A yarmulka is a little skullcap that religious Jewish boys/men wear. It's like what Muslim men wear to the masjid except it's usually black and made of velvet.

Heaven and Hell was the name of a party for the freshers.. everybody had to dress up, either wear wings or wear horns and a tail.
