Ow, ow, ow... OW!!

So this morning I made pancakes... which was nice, y'know, fresh home-made pancakes.  And I'm cooking them on a griddle on the stove-top, which means it has a tendency to slide around.  So I've got a sillicone pot-holder that I'm using to hold the griddle in place when I want to flip the pancakes over.  Fine.  Everythings all fine and dandy.  Until ( Read more... )

yeah that has to hurt! i remember i flipped a pancake once when i was about 8 and it landed on my hand & wrist instead of the pan. that hurt more than it should i guess cos of the oil in the pan. i've never flipped a pancake since, i love pancakes but even seeing someone else flip one makes me wince a little bit.

OW... Yeah, it doesn't hurt so much anymore, partly because I'm fairly impervious to pain. Which is kinda sad. But mostly because it's really not that bad. I did scream though.... And my parents were like "what?" and sat around for a couple moments before they realized what was wrong. **facepalm**

Still feeling burny? One trick I learned back at McD's is this: if you put standard yellow mustard on a burn, it'll stop with the burning feeling so long as there's still some of the stuff in contact with the burn. First you need to leach the heat out of it by holding it under cold water and gradually increasing the temperature to as hot as you can stand it, and then put the mustard on it. Or at least, that's how I survived McD's with all those grease burns on my hands and not enough time to go get the first aid kit.

Worst burn I've ever had was at my paternal grandfather's. He had one of those houses that had a furnace vent on the floor. One of the big ones, you know, about the size of a table? Yeah. I crawled on it. Never did that again.

Really? That's interesting... I wonder.... **Runs off to find the mustard** Vinegar! It's the vinegar. If you get sunburned and you don't have aloe/afterburn/other such products, you put vinegar on the burn to cool it down. Sure you smell like a salad, but you don't hurt.

OH, yeah, I know those things. My dad's old house had two of those, and the freaked me out for the longest time. Well, the whole house tended to freak me out, but that's a different thing entirely.

Also recently, I learned it's a bad idea to cook bacon when barefoot. I'd been fine until this big gob of grease hit my foot, right between my first and second toes. I gave up after that.
