Thanks! I've been looking at wittylittleknitter today and it's been a huge help in trying to figure out the colours. I don't remember seeing Vanna's Choice, but I'll definitely go back and check.
Yeah, Vanna's Choice has a bunch of colors, so I would recommend that. I've used it before for other projects and it's a nice acrylic to work with. If and when I make another scarf I intend to use it myself.
I'm using a 7 and it's fine. Do you want the list of yarn I'm using? I got them all at Michael's and even though some colors don't match exactly, they look good together.
I used US 6 needles for my second scarf and it was fine. :o) I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Vanna's Choice yarn. It's brilliant. I got my VC yarns at Joann's and Michael's. :o)
I did my scarf on a size seven using the Vanna's Choice yarn (at Michael's) for one color, mustard and the rest were Red Heart soft yarn solids: leaf, paprika, brown, light grey heather, off white, grape.
I used a DK weight yarn (it's a bit heavier than the sports weight) and size 8 needles. No problem. I got fancy and went to a Local Yarn Show, and bought Brown Sheep DK. Though I love having real wool for my scarf. A friend of mine is feeling more budget conscious, and hers will be out of acrylic, either bought at my LYS or Michaels, depending on which yarn brand we buy (LYS rarely carry Lion Brand for that one needs Michaels or Joanns). Note - Vanna Choice is made by Lion Brand. What I did for color matching is I found a Nice sized picture of The Doctor from 16th Season and took it in for matching. Please note, even that won't be perfect because colors shift from film to computer. But at least you will know that you did your best.
