okay lets start with you mike.

Halo Benders - "God Don't Make No Junk": first off the name of this band really caught my eye when i was in store last night/an hour ago. and it's steve fisk produced. the halo benders to me are indie garage rock but from the early 90's subpop years. calvin johnsons voice and the tight fucking drums on "Dont Touch My Bikini" make my lip curl. the guitars make me wanna drive a big black 1983 Ford Crown Victoria LTD around town in a black suit in the summertime cruising for "chicks". i love this album thank you.

GZA - "Liquid Swords": i really love this album. it's the best straight forward rap album. it makes me feel like going to war. my favourite track is "4th Chamber". it's a great full on Wu track that features in my opinion the best of the Wu and at about 1:18 the synth drives the awesome feeling of the song, especially the lyrics in RZA's verses:

"...camoflouge chameleon, ninjas scalin your buildin ( ... )

It is difficult to conquer what I affectionately refer to as "The Fucking Kill Him Song". The only trouble is that if it's in one's head at work, there really aren't very many inoffensive lyrics that one can just sing absently in front of the customers.

Shellac played at Rhino's a few years ago. It was a very silly thing.

You should listen to They Might Be Giants. Many more people should listen to They Might Be Giants far more often, in my opinion.

Here, have my High School List, since I haven't heard anything new myself in hundreds of years:

They Might Be Giants
The Damned
Moxy Fruvous
The Dead Milkmen

In addition, The album Tomahawk by the band Tomahawk is the true love of my life. I need another copy, as mine appears to be lost.

Then there's "In Kleskavania" by the Plaid-Tongued Devils.

My friend Brian has a couple of good things up at his band's website, or at least he used to. One hopes they are still there. I recommend "Perverse".

Various Mike Patton projects (e.g. Fantomas, Mr Bungle, Faith No More, and the aforementioned Tomahawk) also make me happy.

You will probably hate all of this, as it tends toward the nerd-rock. But I do not know your taste. And, well, you asked.

I too am in the market for new things to listen to, so I shall be watching the recommendations of others.

I've heard two versions of that song, and one of them was one of the songs that had to be played at my wedding reception 'cuz...well, it had to.

I could actually say I listen to too mushc TMBG at this point. I have hundreds of songs they've released under the moniker "TMBG Unlimited". It's bizarre, they do songs under different names in radically different styles. There's one "group" called "Demchuk" that's basically TMBG does a style parody of Tom Waits.
