i am getting very worried about lily.  i don't think she's going in the right direction... i'm afraid gerty was right, but if even the acidic narrator doesn't give her perceptions a chance -- at least not with someone like lily -- well, what chance does she have?  i already knew this wouldn't end well, but it doesn't help.

the revision on project mulberry is going well.  and that's really a wonderful feeling: not to feel helpless, but to feel as if i do have a handle on what to do, as if i can plan to do a certain number of pages, and it will work out all right: brightening, tightening, without being knocked down by fear of somehow helplessly ( Read more... )

At the moment, I have five pieces of fiction out to four different markets.  I feel both pleased and rather amazed about this.  It's good, I think, because it means that if nothing else I actually have finished five pieces of fiction -- finished them well enough to feel comfortable, insofar as one ever is comfortable, putting them in an envelope ( Read more... )
