Men of the Year 2008

Jan 02, 2009 10:20

This is a repost, as apparently the images weren't working before. Thanks LJ! It's my annual Men of the Year list - one of the only lists of its kind that Barack Obama isn't going to win. As ever, the list consists of the finest totty to make a splash in the past twelve months. The previous winners were Gethin Jones, Daniel Craig, Ray Stevenson, ( Read more... )

I do enjoy these posts. I hadn't noticed how like a young Tom Cruise Mr Faris is. I do find watching Top Gun quite odd these days, as I had a huge crush on Tom when it first came out, but now he just looks like an arrogant schoolboy in it. I also failed to notice quite how homoerotic it was first time around.

I'm with you - the beach volleyball scene was always quite fun but I'm just not sure whether I could enjoy it anymore. Ah, the cynicism of age.

I wanted to convince myself that Faris doesn't look like Cruise just because I find the idea of fancying Cruise upsetting, even by proxy. Now I've come to accept that the reason Cruise was ever attractive was that he had the vague outline of the look that Faris would one day perfect, so that's OK. Looking back at Top Gun today, it really is very obvious how small Cruise is, with his scrawny little chicken body. If Cruise had been born twenty years later (which, scarily, Sean Faris was), he'd be getting cast in the Anthony Edwards roles.

Ah, pictures! Ain't technology grand?

Spider-Man Broadway musical

Three of the most startling words I've heard this year. Although at least there's plenty of time for them to be beaten.

Is it just me, or does Thore look a little bit Hasselhoffish in that last picture? Then again, the Hoff, the 80s, German groupies... does Thore know who his parents are?

When I tell you that the songs for the Spider-Man musical are being written by Bono, does that make it better or worse?

Poor Thore; he deserves much better than to be condemned as the love child of the Hoff. Though I'm sure the Hoff was considered hot stuff in his day. I'm just not entirely sure why.

That makes it my eyebrows rise even higher into my hairline than they already were. Maybe he was selected for his invertebrate-related experience, given U2's "The Fly" and all.

As you are doubtless already aware, I love Thore Schölermann with the power of a thousand burning suns. :D
