There was a game my dad had for the Playstation. I -think- the main character was a dinosaur type thing, and you ran around the world. There were parts that was a cave and sometimes you had to jump over lava. There were other little creatures that you interacted with. Croc 2? I tried googling "gummi savers playstation game" and apparently there are gummi saver game elements in that one, but I never played it myself.
