I am 99.9% sure that it is Japanese since I recognize a lot of the characters.

Ugh. That cloth is SO hard to read for someone who's a novice. D: I can't recognize many of the symbols because the script is so sloppy.

And yes, it is japanese.

I'm just piecing things together, too, trying to pick out what I can read. I think you mean column 12, though. It's "hiroshima hondori" or hiroshima boulevard (though depending on what else it says around it, it could also be "a main street in hiroshima" or something along those lines).

...I hate japanese. :)

It looks like it's from Suishin, which looks like a series of restaurants.

The brush script says something like, "In winter, we've got the tastes of winter. Fugu, oysters, etc. at Suishin."

Picture 2 looks like a listing of store locations.
