[Today, Sayo feels sporatic. It happens, honest! Even if it's not... very often...

But at least it happens! Today she's wearing a dress Buffy had given her-a lovely sundress. And even though it's been raining off and on today, it's the warm, welcoming kind that make wearing such an outfit easy and breezy. Fortunately she remembers what rain is today ( Read more... )

... Huh, you've never heard of fireworks before? Well, I guess it's possible for there to be worlds without fireworks.. It wouldn't even be that strange.

But yeah, they really exist. They exist in my world, at the very least.

I'm not sure if I had before or not... but either way, I'd love to re-learn what they are! So they're in your world? What are they like?

Ah, the memories thing again..?

Either way, they're a little like you described them - giant flashes of color in the sky. They're not made through magic though, it's just a sort of technology.

[she laughs a bit] Mmhm, the memories problem I can't seem to rid myself of, yes.

A sort of technology? Like... like ovens?

I JUST got that song out of my head. consultmybooks July 5 2011, 12:32:30 UTC
Fireworks do exist. They're quite popular during times of celebration.

...I'm sure someone somewhere could probably whip some up, even if the Malnosso aren't decent enough to provide any.

... You can just make them? Really? They're not some sort of magic?

[Seriously, bro, those are like stars in the sky. That's hexen stuff. 8U]

In some worlds, they might be. Not in mine. They're simple enough to make, really.

...do you know what gun power is, Sayo?

Gun... powder...?

[It's been a while since she's dealt with guns, since her draft.

And... she's forgotten them entirely, really. It happens.]

I'm afraid I don't.

We got... boxing and shuttlecocks, back home. And hocuses'd set off colors in the sky for coronations, but mostly that was just spooky as shit.

Boxing? [We'll get to hocuses later, mister. One step at a time, with this one.] What's that like?

You get two guys, right? And you put 'em in a room together. And then they beat the shit out of each other until one of 'em gives up.

...We got bear-bating, too.

[Fireworks. It's almost a harsh reminder of that experiment a few months ago. Their festival for the great one. Raine remembers being involved in helping with the displays.

She tries not to think of that.]

It all depends on how they were crafted, but yes, they do exist. I can find some examples in books for you, granted it's probably not quite the same as seeing the displays in person.

Oh, thank you, Raine-san; I would love to see any examples there are. Though I do admit, I'd love to see them in person... As long as they're not dangerous, that is.

Well, it's best not to be close to them while watching a display. They won't work in damp conditions, either.

We've had some displays here a few times, so it's not an impossibility.

Ah! Then I'll just wait until the next time they're around! I'm a very patient person, after all, and they do sound really amazing.

You can't be too close to them? I suppose it would be a bit too bright on the eyes...

They definitely exist.

Actually, I was thinking of looking for some small ones in the shops later. I don't know that they'd have any of the really big ones, but they might have a few sparklers.

If I find any, I could bring you one.

Sparklers? What are those like?

[Do they sparkle *_*]

They're fireworks, but tiny ones. Ones you can hold safely.

Aaah, that sounds wonderful! I didn't know there were kinds you could hold in your hand; Sparklers, you said they were? I'll have to look them up! Do you think the story may have any?
