So I went shoe shopping yesterday - a new job requires new job shoes, right? Also the floor in the break room is that soft corkboard stuff and my heels were leaving little indents everywhere. The new ones I got are higher but narrower so I figure they'll do less damage ( Read more... )

Ah... A wider heel would leave less of an indentation. The narrower heel focuses the weight of your entire body into one point. You might end up getting stuck in the cork floor.

No, no, see I know you mean well and this is your crazy science stuff and everything, but there's just no way that less of a shoe can leave more of a dent. And they're pink.

They would be leaving a deeper dent. A wider heel would spread the pressure over more surface area, defusing the weight.

...So you're saying you think I've put on weight?

... Did you say something about a private investigator? In the building?

Also, if you're doing stuff for the kid's prom, why the hell do you need to read his books first? If he's big enough to go to prom, I don't think you need to vet his books.

That's what the card said. He also told me he does a good line in finding missing keys and underwear.

And Toushirou is a very delicate boy.

Interesting. Underwear, huh?

So delicate that the current Harry Potter books are too mature for him?

Well I try to find interesting underwear, but it can be kind of hard in my cup size, you know?

Oh I let him read the last one, I'm just a little concerned about book seven.

Did you ever see the one where the detective was a vicar? It was like, Richie's dad out of Happy Days and he had a friend who was a nun called Steve.

Is this movie trivia? 'Cause you might be better off asking Toushirou, he watches all the sci-fi. I'm good for comedies and anything in the Molly Ringwald ouvre.

Actually...Byakuya's right on this one. Pressure is proportional to area, so the smaller the point of your shoe, the more pressure is concentrated. Take it from a Physics teacher.

Iruka! You think I'm fat, too? You know, I'm a size 6 from the chest down.

Nothing like that at all! Let's take myself as an example - in my shoes, which are flat, I exert a certain amount of pressure. If I were to wear your shoes, the pressure on the heel would be greater because of the small surface area, even though I have the same mass. It's like focusing a laser!

And...uh...you're not at all fat, Rangiku. You seem fine to me.

...Is wearing girls shoes what you're into, Iruka? I kinda think you might need a larger size.
