i found out earlier this week that 6 of maryland's original offers were accepted, 1 declined (and the spot ended up going to augustquail - hope you don't mind me sharing your good news!) and the 3 spots they were waiting on responses for weren't in my field, so the DGS told me i should accept one of my other offers (their waitlist is completely by field). i ( Read more... )

I received news that I am wait listed at Ohio University. This is better news than anything else I've received. This school was one of my top choices (they have not only a non-fiction program, but DINTY MOORE). So... here's hoping that someone decides to go elsewhere! :P

Anyone heard from this school? Specifically, people who applied to the Creative Writing PhD program?

How does one approach these events in order to get as much as possible out of them? What are they like? I want to make sure I use the opportunity to its absolute fullest.

I haven't heard anything from Michigan-Ann Arbor OR UChicago--my status online is not changed, no letters of doom (or phone calls or emails, for that matter), nothing. Do/Should I take this as an implicit rejection, or as a possible wait-list?

Of course... I do live out in the Middle-of-Nowhere NY, so it COULD just be slow as molasses snail mail

No grad cafe thread, but lots of rejections (and one acceptance) on the results board. I'm posting because my best friend received a waitlist offer today as well - which seems to suggest that Princeton is taking care of all their business in one fell swoop. Paul Fry called me at 4:12pm. 26.5K stipend. Still trying to process this. I can't believe it!

Michigan English is notifying--as well as their joint program in Women's Studies. Got the e-mail just now that I'm in (at the joint program) with a $26,700 stipend!

Got my first rejection today and I think I'm okay with it. Here's hoping it doesn't set the tone for things to come, though!
