It looks like Wayne Lapierre, CEO of the National Rifle Association and board member of the American Association of Political Consultants, has joined the ranks of such legendary conservative hypocrites as Senior Bush Advisor Karl Rove, Assistant Secretary of Commerce Israel Hernandez, RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman, RNC CFO Jay Banning, RNC National ( Read more... )

I first broached this here about a year and a half ago. Even then, there were a lot of intimations about Rove's furtive behavior after hours in DC (even mentioned in the Washington Times). Since then, there have been regular reports in the blogoshpere about sighting of Rove at various "discreet" gay clubs and private "safe sex parties" and so on - as well as intimations that the relationship between Rove and Guckert-Gannon may have been more than professional. Gun control is one of those issues that just doesn't fit neatly in party lines.

Regarding Lapierre, I think it's his whole "family values" position and his endorsement of openly homophobic candidates that is at issue. I, too, am a proponent of the individual right to bear arms. (While I don't believe that such a right is secured by the Second Amendment, I feel that there should be an additional amendment making such a right explicit.)
