What the hell is wrong with me?

Okay, that's some low-hanging fruit, isn't it. But I'm actually talking about my health.

I'm sick. Again. Really, really sick. High fever, no voice, sore throat, chills, body aches, the whole deal. WHY???

I eat reasonably well. I like my leafy greens. I take vitamins. Okay I could have gotten more exercise in the past few months--but we're talking ( Read more... )

health, whining

Hi, hon--

It does seem as though -- and your family -- have all been sick a lot lately, and I know you've been trying t take care of yourself and keep everyone healthy. That makes me wonder whether environment's the issue here. Black mold is freaking dangerous; it can have a lot of effects and they aren't all respiratory. It sucks to get rid of black mold, but if you know about it you can at least address it. Maybe you should get your place checked?

one airborne plus one emergen-C (in the same cup) at least once a day while you feel lousy and anytime someone else in the house is sick. since i started using that combo for travel i haven't gotten sick or even run down from crossing time zones. not saying it really works, just saying it coincides with me not getting sick when i used to, so i'll keep taking it.

Yes, I think it's stress. I am always sick when I have an inordinate amount of stress. One thing I do to combat colds is hand sanitize my kids all the time at work (germ bags that they are), and have emergen-C daily. I hand sanitize a great deal at work, wash my hands all the time when I can. I would also give the doc a call about the mold, maybe they know of simple suggestions of getting rid of it (it's a scam, you know). Have you had allergy testing for mold?

Good thought--I need to get one of them there BIG hand sanitizer bottles. I do test allergic to mold, but just the household grows-on-your-bread variety. Makes me sneeze. HA did you see the "King of the Hill" about mold in the walls? Snork

Stress is very hard on the body, and when you combine it with the kidlets and the germs they're bringing home on a daily basis... yikes. You're on the right track with vitamins and exercise. I take a SH*Tload of vitamins per day, waaaay pass a multi. Lots of antioxidants, lots of fiber to keep the toxins cleaned out of the body, drink LOTS of water. 1000 mg of C and 400 iu of E within 10 minutes of each meal to clean the fat out of the blood (one of the few things that's actually been proven to work in studies). While it sounds tasty, the bourbon is probably not a good idea. I love my white zin, but frankly, the more I drink, the poorer in general I feel. Do you take iron? It can make a big difference in a woman. The best kind is Soloray's iron asporotate, difficult to find except online but not at all expensive. This type of iron is absorbed by the body while other types just pass through. Take at least 2,000 mg of calcium daily (at a different time than the iron, because each inhibits the other's absorption). Be sure to ( ... )

WOW thanks for all the awesome advice! What kind of E do you take?
Heh. I was actually kidding about the bourbon, this time anyway. My throat hurts so much I can't get anything more challenging than tea and popsicles past it.
There's iron in my multi, but probably not enough. I'll check out the Soloray stuff. No no, I appreciate the helath book! I need SOMETHING. I'm starting to feel like a one-woman plague ship.

Just regular gelcaps, 400 iu. I have, however, heard that E tocopherals are better, but I don't know the truth of that. You get better!!!

Heh...I remember squeezing those capsules on my belly after my gallbladder surgery. That tocopheral smell NEVER comes out of your clothes. But it sure worked well.

Tea, tea, tea and more tea! and make it hot!
I'm from that part of the planet, how's your sunshine count? Are you getting enough? You might want to look into getting a SAD box.
