So my FH loves the Marry Me song by Train and we want to play that as the wedding party is walking down the isle. But immediately after the wedding party walks down the aisle, when it is time for me to walk down the aisle, instead of playing the typical Cannon IN D, he wants me to walk down to Mama's song by Carrie Underwood b/c my mom will walk me ( Read more... )

I think you should walk down the aisle to whatever you want to walk down to.

I don't think those two are weird next to each other though. If anything, I think it's weirder to have your bridal party walk down to Marry Me.

I don't think it would be weird or awkward if you time it right. We played "With a Little Help From My Friends" by the Beatles for our wedding party and I walked to "So This Is Love" from the Cinderella soundtrack. :) it worked great.

We didn't want to use lyrics because we weren't having a rehearsal, and worried that cutting between two songs would be awkward if lyrics were involved. Instead, we found covers done of some great songs by The Vitamin String Quartet. They might not have those songs yet, and I don't know how much time you have until the wedding, but they do keep pretty current, and are constantly releasing stuff. iTunes has a pretty good selection from them. There's also a Vitamin Piano Series, which is (obviously) piano based.

I think that you, as the bride, should be the one to pick the music you walk down the Aisle to. And yeah, you should probably try to keep things in the same tempo/genre unless you have live musicians (like a string quartet, classical guitarist, etc.) and then you can basically do any songs you want because they all fit together by default of similar instrumentation.

If you want to walk down the aisle to a different song, you could perhaps dance with her to "Mama's Song" at the reception. I'm using it for the Mother-Daughter dance at my wedding. =)
