i'm not sure what your reception venue's policy on open flames is, but a relatively low cost option for a super classy centerpiece is just a large cluster of candles of different heights. that or a big bowl with some floating candles.
very pretty girls all the way around and it sounds like you've got a lot of help in planning and taking care of things :) maybe someone should fill my mother in!! hahaha. anyway.
check your locate dollar stores. it sounds inane and insane but i found the bowls for floating flowers there for $1 a piece (you can get them at michaels for $5) and we filled them with the a ring of berries (bought on clearance after christmas) and ivory floating candles. each centerpiece for you sister's wedding ended up costing $2.00
and no one really took the centerpieces so out of the 30 we had, we still have 20 of the bowls. im gonna reuse them for my wedding. i'm going to fill them with glass pebbles and float gerbera daisies in them. and i'm gonna get tall vases for the rest of the tables and have one stem of gerbera in it. so i'll have 20 tables of floating bowls and about 12 of the vases. =)
I will tell you about that dress....haha its GORGEOUS in person so I tried it on but its so HEAVY...doesn't look like it would be but it was. Awesome that she offered to pay for your dress- that should free up some budget money!

as for centerpiece ideas, i browsed theknot.com & found styles i liked that i could easily copy from things at the local craft store (http://media.theknot.com/ImageStage/Objects/0003/0032095/large_image.jpg - this is what i'm modifying.) good luck.
