I know there have been a ton of posts concerning free honeymoon scams, but I just had to share my story because it made me laugh pretty hard

We've actually had several free vacations for attending a 60-90 minute presentation. The ones where you attend the presentation in your home town, then your vacation is entirely yours. It's not a bad deal actually and we've enjoyed it.
But in general they can be kind of shady -and we never do the ones where you have to take time out of your vacation to go to the presentation.
Not always so. BlueGreen Corp. does "deeply-discounted packages" rather than "free vacations," so you have to pay upfront. However, they're honest with you from the get-go about what is required of you for these vacations.
Totally there with you! Just watch out for ones that require you to tour their timeshares BEFORE they'll give you your vouchers. Usually it's all good, but one of those forced us on a FOUR HOUR TOUR without offering us anything to eat or drink in the middle of JUNE.
Had they just told us up front that we'd have to be there for that long, we'd have been okay with it. All the other companies who have offered us these vouchers were honest and upfront, telling us the score from the get-go. These folks (they own Massanutten Resort in VA, btw)? Nope. Told us we'd be there for an hour, tops. Lied through their teeth.
But, one bad experience out of five isn't bad. We wouldn't have been able to vacation as much as we have in the last four years otherwise. ;)
