Mom & Eddie came over yesterday. I can see mom changing so much, and it really saddens me. I guess as you age, something about your memory pattern shifts. She can't remember what she had for breakfast, but she can remember her childhood events, and young adult events, like they were yesterday. I saw that happen with dad too ( Read more... )

It's 9 degrees, with wind chill -5, and we just got evacuated! There is a water main break in the basement, the water rose to about 3 feet very quickly, so we all got to go outside and wait. Somehow we're making out like bandits in this bad economy. Last night we met with our banker and were able to lock the house in at 5%, which also reduced our house payment by $250 a month. That also means no house payment until April, while they process the paperwork ( Read more... )

This story just ripped my heart out. This girl was Jade's age. Some people are so stupid, they should not be allowed to live. WTF was this father thinking? Why didn't the other adult stop him? HOW THE HELL could he just turn around and go back home?????
