I've pretty much given up expecting my parents to help me out with things. Not that I am in the same situation as you but it became stonkingly obvious years ago that the lengths they were prepared to go to for my sister, the nice normal married baby-producer and me were incredibly disparate. So frankly, bollocks to them. One of the most frustrating things I find is that they really havent got a clue about the real world outside of their own tiny one. The lack of perspective and assumptions about their children can be staggering. I am not all about take take take from my parents and no give back but there has to be a balance, and frankly in that case when they are really old and decrepit and need people to look after them then its tough shit as far as I'm concerned
