In Which Sam and Ruby get Married...

Feb 13, 2010 14:29

Sam had decided to wait until they had Ben back and had made their way back to Seattle before having the wedding. They really were not planning on anything big - let's face it, Sam and Ruby hadn't made a lot of friends in the last two decades. But there were family and a few friends who would be welcome, and Sam was someone who really cared about ( Read more... )

Castiel's Reception Thread soldier_ofgod February 27 2010, 04:32:55 UTC
After the ceremony, Castiel wasn't sure what to do with himself. He understood that he was supposed to stay around, but what he was supposed to do while staying around wasn't exactly clear.

So, he did what he always did he found a nice corner and set himself up to watch. He was comfortable with watching, these human interactions were very revealing and quite fascinating. He didn't want to interact, he had done enough of that today for his tastes.

Of course, by staying he was going to have to interact. He knew that, but was hoping his quiet corner was going to escape that.

"You planning on hiding in the corner all afternoon?" Sam limped over. "Because I'll have Mama ask you to dance. She'll totally sweep you off your feet too."

"I don't know how to dance," Castiel said simply. "And I am not hiding."

If he was hiding, no one would be able to see him.

"How can you not know how to dance?" Sam asked with a tilt of his head. "I thought angels were graceful like that."

Jo's Reception Thread ironknifehunter February 27 2010, 04:38:32 UTC
The first thing she did was get a glass of champagne, then Jo set about socializing. Since she'd been helping Ruby since dawn, she hadn't gotten a chance to let her hair down and celebrate.

But the ceremony was over and now she had already pulled all the pins from her hair. It still looked pretty good, curvy and shiny, so she didn't think anyone would protest the change. Now she got to laugh, get some hugs and have fun.

She liked fun, like that she wasn't serving drinks this time and taking care of everyone. Today, Jo was going to have a good time and nothing was going to stop that. Unless Ruby needed something.

Sam was making his way around, thanking his friends for being there and celebrating with him. There hadn't been a lot of good things in the last few years, so it felt nice to have all his family together again, smiling and laughing.

He saw Jo and limped over to her, leaning on his cane a bit while holding his champagne flute with the other.

"So, what's this I heard about you and my wife getting arrested last night?"

"I plead the fifth," she said brightly and shifted her glass to her other hand to hug Sam.

"Congratulations, Sammy. No one deserves it more than you and Ruby."

She really meant that. After all the crap they'd faced in their lives and in Ruby's case, after life, they should have the wedding and the marriage and the love.

Well, except for Dean and Jo, but that was going to be a relationship that Sam would quietly support and hope they figured themselves out faster than Sam and Ruby had taken.

"Thanks," he hugged her back, smiling brightly. "I swore once she was going to be the death of me. Funny how things change over the years."

He had to take a break and found a chair to sit in, accepting a refill on his champagne and just nibbled on some of the food that was on the table just in reach. He knew he needed to pace himself if he wanted to keep some energy going for the night, but he was excited and just wanted to be with everyone.

He was a little boy with the world centering it's attention on him, and he couldn't be happier.

Mary made her way over after talking with Ben, placing her hands on Sam's shoulders gently as she got closer. "Enjoying yourself?"

Closing his eyes, he leaned back into the hands on his shoulders before turning his head to look up at his mom and smile.

"Probably the best day of my life," he told her. "How about yourself?"

She looked down at him with a smile, giving his shoulders a squeeze as she moved to sit next to him. "Best day I've had in a long time."

John's Reception Thread sarcio_pater February 27 2010, 04:55:57 UTC
This was not how John imagined his future. After Mary died, after sacrificing his life and getting recruited by the angels, he had never imagined he'd be standing at Sam's wedding reception. That was one of the things he learned working with the angels. Unexpected things happened all the time and this was just one of them.

He loved it. All day, he'd been holding back a huge swell of pride and deep fatherly love. Now, standing around at the reception he had a huge grin on his face. Nothing was holding it back anymore.

"So was it everything you had hoped for?" Sam asked, walking up behind his father. He was leaning on his cane a bit more than he would like around his father, but he was getting tired.

"It's all I ever wanted for you Sammy." John put a hand on Sam's shoulder and gave it a squeeze. "You're happy. What dad doesn't want that?"

"Once upon a time you nearly had a coronary because I wanted a normal happy life." Sam was gently teasing. It was all water under the bridge now for Sam. "But I'm glad I was able to share this with you and mom."

Ben's Thread mini_dean February 27 2010, 04:57:29 UTC
After the wedding was over, Ben had snuck upstairs for a moment to get a quick breather from all the emotional static downstairs. Even with it being happy waves, it still could get overwhelming.

But two pills and ten minutes of fresh air and he was back downstairs, looking to find Anna for a dance or two and avoid getting his cheeks pinched from his Winchester grandparents.

John wasn't going to pinch any cheeks, that he left to Mary. He still wanted to get to know his grandsons though and when he spotted Ben all by himself he started to make his way over.

"Seems like you found the only quiet corner not already occupied by Castiel," John said with a friendly smile.

Ben looked up from his spot where he was holding up the wall and noticed his grandfather walking over towards him. He turned a bit, still unsure of what he was going to be like.

"Yeah. He got the one with the better view, but I'm in arms reach of the main buffet table to it's an even tossup."

"Ah, he wouldn't eat anything anyway." John offered a hand for a handshake, just something to ease them into friendly.

"You enjoyin' yourself? Mary hasn't made a nuisance of herself has she?"
