It's the seventh inning and the Enigmas break out their closer, sending Arnold to the mound to pitch the last three innings.

...the new relief pitcher is a kid. Not much older than Sari, even. This is gonna be a piece of cake.

Hey, Arnold is highly trained in the art of baseball.

...Incidentally, Arnold's inner monologue is going a little something like this: The batter is a kid. This is gonna be a piece of cake.

Guess whose inner monologue is closer to reality. Go on. Guess.

Sari taps the plate twice with her bat and readies for the pitch.

Ah, the seventh inning stretch. A lovely baseball tradition, break for players and spectators alike, a chance to stetch, move around, get more food, catch your breath.

And an opportunity to make sure that the field, having seen the action of the preceeding six and a half innings, is in good shape for the last two and a half.

The relative silence on the field is replaced by the sound of a few jaunty chords filling the air. They play for a count of ten before the Five Rogue Loompas take to the infield clad in blue/grey MILLIWAYS MAINTENANCE jumpsuits.

At first only the Leader sings.

Wonka is the name he had us call him by
Wonka is the name we grew to loathe
Wonka is the man who took from us the sky
And shipped us to his factory in droves.

A full band picks up, filling in the harmonic holes left by the sound of the lonely organ as four of the five Loompas are paired up with drag mat and set to leveling the clay.

The odd man out has a chalk marker and is resetting both the first and third base lines.

Wonka made us promises that were all lies
Wonka worked our fingers to the bone
Even Charlie was blinded to our plight
We fled to find a better home.

And then when our lives were all on the line
A door appeared and showed us the way
Safe now from Wonka here at Milliways
And this is where we're always gonna stay!

The Loompas all pause, raising their fists to the sky and together counting:
Two! Three! Four!
Before continuing on their highly choreographed infield clean up.

Loompas,  Mike the Barman shouted
You're not here to screw around.
Mill'ways you know we love you madly
Watch the bar rock to our sound
Don't blame us if we dare rebuff you
You know we couldn't live without you
Mill'ways you are the only only only

Four of the five fall silent, as Leader's voice once again becomes the sole singing voice on the field. How body so small can house a voice so loud and full of gravel is anyone's guess.

Doctor Jones showed up in the town one day
We still maintain he snuck inside.Everything stops, and the Loompas all turn to look at each other, as if to check that this is indeed the version of the story they've all agreed on. One by one each orange and green head nods its approval, and ( ... )

The Paradoxes, too, send a new pitcher to the mound, putting the last three innings into the hands of Felix Gaeta.

New pitcher, huh?

Edward doesn't look much more impressed by his stance so far.

So says the raised eyebrows and the loose hold on his bat.

Okay, then. Bring it on. It's not like he has forever.

"You have this, Felix!" Carlisle calls out some encouragement before staring point blank at Edward.

Completely silently.

Don't bother him; he's heckling.

Edward's not smirking more. Not at all.

Because Carlisle's never done this before. Ever.
